Event Details

Offered in conjunction with the 2010 American Association of State and Local History/Oklahoma Museums Association Conference, this workshop commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The agenda includes a presentation on the history and context of NAGPRA, an overview of the National NAGPRA program, strategies for determining cultural affiliation, case studies in NAGPRA implementation, and a forum on the future of NAGPRA.

Primary presenters are Walter Echo-Hawk, Jr., Of Counsel, Crowe & Dunlevy; Kevin Gover, Director, National Museum of the American Indian; and Sherry Hutt, Program Manager, National NAGPRA Program.  Other presenters are  Bridget M.
